#11322 1/6 Daguerreotype, gentleman in a top hat and frogged cape
Interesting sixth plate (2.75" by 3.25") daguerreotype of a gentleman wearing a top hat and a frogged cape. There is some light tinting to his lips. Although he is super well dressed for the evening, I don’t think I would like to encounter him on a darkened street or alley. Housed in a nice full case with minimal wear, working closures and an intact original spine.
CONDITION: the re-silvered plate is in very good condition. There is some light tarnish and a few scattered spots and a light cloudiness to the center of the plate which is enhanced by the scanner. Light mat scrapes on the left. I have resealed the plate with a new glass, Filmoplast P90 and archival polyester film.
