#11325 1/4 Daguerreotype, fantastic outside snow scene
Fantastic outside snow scene of a town in winter. The quarter plate (3.25" by 4.25") daguerreotype is possibly of a New England town. At least it was a town/city where a lot of snow occurred as evident by the heavy horse drawn sleds seen. One of the sleds is in front of a larger building with a store front and sign above. The rest of the building is a larger home with two large chimneys. Off to the left several other sleds with horses and several people can be seen on the street/road. The daguerreotype is housed in an excellent full case with an original spine. The clasp works fine, and the case closes fine.
CONDITION: the plate is in very good condition. Tarnish and spotting as seen. There is one tiny green spot about an inch from the left/center mat and a small abrasion on the bottom left not picked up by the scan. I have resealed the dag with a new glass, Filmoplast P90plus and archival polyester film.
