#11156 1/4 Ambrotype, two drinking buddies
Quarter plate (3.25" by 4.25") ambrotype of two drinking buddies. Both are holding glasses with a tinted liquid and one is holding a bottle. Both seemed to be somewhat happy as they both were slightly smiling. The artist is identified by the imprint in the case as “KEENAN” of “248 S SECOND ST. PHIDA.” According to CRAIG’S DAGUERREIAN REGISTRY John Keenan was listed at “248 South Second Street from 1852 to 1857”. I am not sure the case is original to the image as CRAIG’S doesn’t mention Keenan as an Ambrotypist. Housed in a full case with wear and a leather spine repair. The case closes and both clasps work, there is a slight gap where the case halves meet.
CONDITION: The plate is in excellent condition.
