#11162 1/6 Daguerreotype, two men in hats one w/ pipe and smoke
Early 1840’s sixth plate (2.75" by 3.25") daguerreotype of two working class men in hats. There is a window with curtains on the right with part of the curtain in front of the older gent (there is a curtain on the left also, but it is hidden by the mat). The daguerreotypist etched some smoke above the pipe which the older gent was holding. Housed in a full case with wear. I have applied a leather spine repair to the case and it closes fine and the clasps work fine.
CONDITION: The plate is in excellent condition with some tarnishing. The back of the plate has some remaining red wax applied in the making of the dag. I Have resealed the plate with a new glass, Filmoplast P90-plus and archival polyester film.
