#11164 1/6 Daguerreotype, young child holding a huge hat
A quality sixth plate (2.75" by 3.25") daguerreotype of a scared stiff young child holding a huge hat. This is probably a boy clad in a young girl's dress. Housed in a nice full case with slight wear, with an expertly repaired spine.
CONDITION: this re-silvered plate is in superb condition. Some dust from the scan shows. Resealed by a previous owner. (NOTE: re-silvered refers to a process done by the daguerreotypist to add an extra layer of silver to the plate before buffing and the image exposed. This is generally believed to have been done to achieve a superior plate surface, hence a better quality daguerreotype.
