#11211 1/6 Daguerreotype, Postmortem of a young child
Sixth plate (2.75" by 3.25") horizontal daguerreotype Postmortem of a young child laid out on a light patterned pillow and wearing a white gown. The pad is embossed with “KNAPP ARTIST; 103 BOWERY NEW YORK”, according to “Craig’s Daguerreian Registry” that would be William R. Knapp. Light tinting to the child’s cheeks. Housed in a full case with a lot of wear and a leather spine repair.
CONDITION: The plate is in very good condition. One area of a small wipe and dark vertical lines at the bottom (six o’clock) of the plate. I have resealed the plate with a new glass, Filmoplast P90 and archival polyester film.
