#11222 1/6 Daguerreotype, two young brothers, one w/black eye
Sixth plate (3.25" by 2.75") daguerreotype, two young brothers holding hands. You don’t see too many black eyes in a daguerreotype! Every time I look at this plate I can't help but laugh. I think the younger brother was shaking so hard worrying whether his brother was going to give him another black eye. I believe there is a pillar off to the left. Housed in a nice full light brown case with a repaired spine.
CONDITION: plate is in excellent condition. The re-silvered plate has a new glass and archival seal by a previous owner. (NOTE: re-silvered refers to a process done by the daguerreotypist to add an extra layer of silver to the plate before the image was exposed. This is generally believed to have been done to achieve a superior plate surface, hence a better quality daguerreotype.)
