#11253 1/6 Daguerreotype, three darling kids
Sixth plate daguerreotype (2.75" by 3.25") of three darling kids. This re-silvered plate may have been produced by one of the Boston masters. The plate has an odd cut and is a little undersized. Housed in an excellent black Boston style push-button case, the case is not original to the image but compliments the image very nicely. (NOTE: re-silvered refers to a process done by the daguerreotypist to add an extra layer of silver to the plate before the image was exposed. This is generally believed to have been done to achieve a superior plate surface, hence a better quality daguerreotype.)
CONDITION: the plate is in near perfect condition. Under magnification a few stray buffing lines can be observed at some viewing angles. There is a dot on the middle girl's chin which was caused by the scan, it does not exist on the plate. New glass and resealed with P90.
