#11257 1/6 Daguerreotype, young mom and daughters
Sixth plate (2.75" by 3.25") daguerreotype. Beautiful young mom and a not too happy daughter posing with a younger sibling. I believe this to possibly be from the WHIPPLE studio as everything points to it, possibly his chair, a re-silvered plate and housed in nice Boston style black push-button case. The lines and spots showing between mom and the bigger daughter are from the scan and not on the dag. The case has some wear.
CONDITION: the re-silvered plate is in excellent condition with heavy tarnish and some spotting which is highly exaggerated in the magnified view of the chair. (NOTE: re-silvered refers to a process done by the daguerreotypist to add an extra layer of silver to the plate before the image was exposed. This is generally believed to have been done to achieve a superior plate surface, hence a better quality daguerreotype.) New glass and sealed with Filmoplast P-90.
