#11262 1/6 Daguerreotype, beautiful young, confident woman in black
Sixth plate (2.75" by 3.25") daguerreotype. Beautiful young, confident woman attired in a very fine black outfit of bonnet, shawl, lace and leather gloves. She looks to be from a wealthy background. She has a distinctive forehead mole or birthmark. A very interesting dark marble (or fake marble) column used as a prop. It would be neat to know if the photographer could be identified by this column. Housed in a very nice dark brown thermoplastic Union Case with one edge ding, missing material at the clasp and the clasp does not hold the case closed.
CONDITION: the re-silvered plate is in excellent condition. (NOTE: re-silvered refers to a process done by the daguerreotypist to add an extra layer of silver to the plate before the image was exposed. This is generally believed to have been done to achieve a superior plate surface.) New glass and an archival re-seal with Filmoplast P-90.
