#11312 1/2 Daguerreotype, two friendly gents with huge top hats
Half plate (4.25" by 5.50") daguerreotype of two friendly gentleman with huge top hats. Both men have facial hair. The mat is imprinted with “HOLMES 298 BROADWAY”. According to “Craig's Daguerreian Registry” this would have been “Holmes, Silas (Samuel) A” of New York City and Brooklyn, N.Y. Slight facial tinting and to the vest of the gent on the left. Housed in a full black BOSTON style case with a working push-button closure. The spine and two hinges are in good condition.
CONDITION: the plate is in excellent condition, there is some slight tarnish around the periphery of the mat. Resealed by a previous owner with a note inside the case marked 10-1998.
