#11350 1/6 Daguerreotype, very handsome young bearded man
Sixth plate (2.75" by 3.25") daguerreotype of a very handsome young bearded man. He appears to have an injured arm tucked inside his jacket with some bulging on the left side and the jacket is stretched to close at the button. Excellent plate, some tarnish and very minor marks along the right mat opening. Housed in a full case with a leather spine repair and working clasps. Attached to the mat is a label “COREY & PICKERILL, ARTISTS”. CRAIG’S DAGUERRIAN REGISTRY Frank Pickerill listed as:

Active as a daguerreian. He recalled in later years that he learned the daguerreian process in Lafayette, Ind., in 1851. Whether or not he practiced there in that year is unknown. He was listed in Dubuque,. Iowa from 1855 to 1857. In 1855 he was listed in partnership as Corey and Pickerill; the partnership succeeded White.
