#2829 Excellent Whale Oil Lamp circa 1840-1860
Excellent Whale Oil Lamp circa 1840-1860. I do not know the name of the pattern. It is one I have never seen before in 15+ years of buying oil lamps. Most likely made in SANDWICH MASS as it has a glass wafer which was used to fuse the top and base together. EXCELLENT condition, very crisp lines, no cracks. Some small bubbles in the glass, there is one sharp point of extra glass from the manufacture around the top rim. A few small nicks on the bottom of the base and some straw/striation marks. Normal wear on the bottom. Excellent condition pewter collar which is slightly offset, also from the manufacture. Approximate size: 9 3/8" to top of collar, base is 4 1/4" at it's widest (across the points). Shipping weight: 4 lbs.
