#11197 1/6 Daguerreotype, little boy forced to wear an off-shoulder dress
Classic posed sixth plate (2.75" by 3.25") daguerreotype. This poor little boy was forced to wear an off-shoulder dress while standing for his photograph. And check out the shoes and socks, I bet they weren't his either. Housed in a very nice full case with very slight wear. The spine has been professionally repaired.
CONDITION: the re-silvered plate is in great condition, some dust seen from the scan (NOTE: re-silvered refers to a process done by the daguerreotypist to add an extra layer of silver to the plate before buffing and the image exposed. This is generally believed to have been done to achieve a superior plate surface, hence a better quality daguerreotype.) Some very light tarnish around the mat edge, three small brown spots off his left shoulder mostly seen at a angle. New glass and sealed with P-90 by me.
