#11203 1/6 Daguerreotype of Mom and her young son holding a very large hat
Sixth plate (2.75" by 3.25") daguerreotype of Mom and her young son holding a very large hat. Mother (or maybe Grand Mother) and son are very well dressed. Housed in a very nice full case with different front and back designs but with an original spine.
CONDITION: the re-silvered plate is in excellent condition. (NOTE: re-silvered refers to a process done by the daguerreotypist to add an extra layer of silver to the plate before buffing and the image exposed. This is generally believed to have been done to achieve a superior plate surface, hence a better quality daguerreotype.) Resealed by a previous owner in 1994.
